Vacation Part 5 (Disney Springs, EPCOT, Last Day)

Thursday marked our last full day at Disney.  We started out with breakfast at The Mara, the quick service restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  Since no trip to Disney is complete without Mickey waffles,we all ordered them although Kenzie was more excited by the whipped cream that came with them!

Then it was back to Disney Springs for the girls' appointments at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique!  First part of the appointment was changing into their princess dresses.

Then they met their fairy godmothers for hair, makeup, and nail polish.  I knew things would go well with Kaitlyn, but I was absolutely amazed at the process with Kenzie.  I really didn't know if they would be able to do anything with her.  It's difficult for me to do her hair because she pulls it out and is constantly moving.  She doesn't like getting her face painted, so I didn't think the makeup would go well.  However, they told us they are trained to work with special needs kids and they would be able to do it all.

They moved the chair and we wheeled Kenzie up to her assigned spot next to Kaitlyn.  They also had two fairy godmothers with Kenzie.  One did her hair and the other did her makeup and nails.  Sure enough, they finished Kenzie before Kaitlyn was even done with the hair portion!

Kaitlyn's fairy godmother kept commenting on how nice and thick her hair was (which obviously does NOT come from me!)

What's really cool is they keep the girls' back to the mirror, so they can't see what's going on.  Then when everything is done, they turn them around with their eyes closed.  One of the Disney photographers is there to capture them opening their eyes and seeing their princess transformation for the first time!  I asked Kaitlyn what her first thought was and she said "I look pretty!"  I loved how Kaitlyn was the center of attention with someone too!  So often everyone pays attention to her sister first.  It was so nice seeing the smile on her face while her fairy godmother was doing her makeover and talking to her!

Between the glitter on their dresses and the glitter  fairy dust in their hair, everything was covered to Kevin's dismay.  There is still glitter in Kenzie's wheelchair!

We had lunch at Bongo's before heading back to EPCOT where we were going to have dinner and attend the Candlelight Processional.

The photographer told us to make fish faces, haha.

Kenzie looks so innocent.  "I'm not doing anything.  I'm not trying to rip the tiara off my head and take the bun down.  I'm just feeling to make sure it's still there!"

We had dinner at the Coral Reef restaurant.  We asked if we could be right up against the glass, but didn't think it was possible. We've been there 3 times over the years, but never got close.  Kenzie must be magic charm though!

She looks so grown up!  And yes, the tiara is gone.  I finally gave up the battle.

While we were eating, they were having a scuba diving tour of the aquarium.  Kaitlyn kept waving at the divers.  Most waved back.  Two of the guys went a bit beyond that though.  One of them came up to the glass and bowed to Princess Cinderella/ Kaitlyn.  Then he fist bumped her through the glass!  Another one came up to glass and took off the oxygen to smile at both girls and blew bubbles for them.  He also took gravel from the bottom and threw it up to make it snow.  Kenzie seemed more impressed by the huge sting rays, but both girls loved the experience!

Then we headed over to the Candlelight Processional.  We had a dining package, so we had reserved seats- basically it guarantees you a seat but not where that seat will be.  However, the accessible seats were only a few rows back from the stage! Our narrator was Robby Benson (voice of the Beast on the animated Beauty and the Beast).  At the end, he thanked everyone for coming and did the Beast voice- roaring at everyone to "Get Out", which the crowd loved!

Kaitlyn in front of our room.

A better look at Kenzie's Snow White dress since it can be hard to see it in the chair.

Both girls conked out fast!  Kenzie picked out the bear.  We walked around the shop 3 times.  Each time we passed it, she indicated she wanted it- even though it was on a higher shelf and not in her direct line of sight.

Before we checked out the next morning, we looked for animals one last time.  Kaitlyn's got the animal identification guide the hotel provides.  And unlike her sister, her hair survived for another day.  Actually, we got our moneys worth with her...it survived for several days!

Kevin liked the "Beware of Poachers" sign as we were leaving the resort.

Our Disney fun wasn't completely over yet though.  We drove over to the Contemporary where we had brunch at Chef Mickey's!

This was Kenzie's first time seeing Pluto, so that visit didn't go well.

But she handled the rest much better!

As long as they didn't get too close...

And we even got one smile next to Donald!

Then we walked down the hall to check out the Gingerbread house.

It was really hard to get this picture!  All Kenzie wanted to do was watch the monorails coming through above her!

Then we headed back to Disney Springs because we had promised Kaitlyn a trip to the Lego store and we still had some snack credits to use before we left.

This sign is made out of jelly beans!

On our way back to the car, Kevin found his happy place... a store dedicated to wrong-handed people.  This spiral notebook spoke to him!

Stay tuned... one more blog of our fun breaks on the drive back home!
