Kenzie's Birthday

It's hard to believe our little Kenzie-Bug is already four!  We spent the weekend celebrating with things Kenzie loves.

We started our weekend with a trip to the Wildlife Park.  Kenzie pointed out all the animals to us and would check to make sure we were looking too!

The highlight for everyone was Miss Maggie.. the baby moose.  She's so cute!

Kenzie is in love with her new stuffed moose!

On Sunday, we went to Famous Dave's for lunch.

Then it was back home for some ice cream cake (from Dairy Queen!) and presents.

And this was right before she stuck her finger in the cake!

Kenzie loved her "cake"!

Finally, we visited the new sweet shop in the mall.  Kevin asked Kenzie what she liked and she motioned to everything.  She is definitely my child, haha.

A Little Story

We had a great weekend celebrating Kenzie's birthday! I will get the pictures together and work on a blog post on that in the next day or two.  I wanted to take a few moments to share something that happened to us at Mass today.

It all started with the Knights of Columbus...  the council that Kevin belongs to is going to be hosting a Steak and Lobster benefit dinner for Kenzie in a couple of weeks.  Somehow with my prior lector experience (doing the readings at Mass while in high school) I ended up being the one making the announcement about it at the end of Mass.

After Mass, a woman came up to me.  She told me that she hadn't been to Mass at our church at that time in over 20 years.  She also explained that she go to Lourdes every year.  (For our non-Catholic family and friends, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to a French teenager in 1858.  During one of the apparitions, Mary told Bernadette to dig in the ground and a small spring bubbled up.  Today, millions of people from around the world visit the site of the apparition where a church has been built.  Over the years, numerous miracles have been attributed to the spring which people are allowed to bathe in).  Anyway, this wonderful woman gave me a small bottle that she had, that contains some of the water from that spring!  We spoke for awhile about how I had always been drawn to Lourdes and how much I wanted to visit- so much so, that I chose Bernadette as my confirmation name!

I know there are many people in the world that would attribute this to a series of coincidences.  However, myself and this wonderful lady firmly believe that God and Mary work in wondrous ways!  I will be sprinkling some of the water on Kenzie before her tests in Boston next week.

Pictures!

We have some really special pictures that the amazing Tracey captured for us!  The girls played dress up... in my wedding dress!  We even got out the headpiece, veil, necklace, shoes, and purse. It was so much fun!  Kaitlyn was impressed by how heavy the dress was!  That weight made it easier to get Kenzie pictures though!  She couldn't crawl away in it!
