Fall Photos

We got our Fall photos back right before we went on vacation.  Love Megan Gormley!

Transatlantic Cruise (11/12- 11/20)

Our last port day was Santa Cruz de Tenerife.  Kevin and Kenzie walked around Santa Cruz near the port together, while Kaitlyn and I went on an excursion to Teide National Park,  We were able to meet up in the afternoon to get a gangway picture together before we re-boarded the ship though!

Kaitlyn and I visited Teide National Park because I desperately wanted to see the volcano!  Teide National Park is also a UNESCO World Heritage site and is allegedly the most visited park in "Europe".  NASA also tested the Mars rover here due to the similarities in the landscape.

Part of the caldera.

Some of the old lava flows.

Last time heading back to the ship...

If you can't picture exactly where Tenerife is, this is from our map channel.  Crazy to think we were that close to Africa!

Next up... 7 days at sea!  We found a lot of fun stuff to do, but still had plenty of time for relaxing too!

Kaitlyn (and Kevin) loved this interactive board.  It showed where every Carnival ship was and stats about each ship.

Kaitlyn and I went back to the Carnival Kitchen for a "cupcake workshop".  Before learning decorating techniques, they first taught us how to make the famous Carnival Chocolate Melting Cake.

I love the intense concentration here, haha.

My cupcakes- the one that looks like vanilla was actually banana flavored and super yummy!

Kaitlyn's cupcakes...

Finally time for the good part; tasting!

Waiting for lunch at Cucina...

Gotta love free drinks at the Captain's Cocktail party, lol.

Picture with the Captain! And, no, we weren't one of the idiots that we hear about every cruise who thinks it's funny to ask the Captain "If you're here, who's driving the boat?".

Ah yes, Kenzie got so many compliments on her dress and how pretty she looked in it.  What will Kevin and I remember?  That thing shed glitter EVERYWHERE.  Kevin still had glitter on his face days after she wore it.  Her wheelchair looked like Tinkerbell vomited glitter on the seat.

The upper level of the Aquarium Bar.  The panels came off the Carnival Victory (which was completely redesigned and rechristened the Carnival Radiance).  Kevin thinks I'm an idiot because we were on the Victory and I don't remember these at all!

Our room steward loved to do things with the girls' stuffed animals.  Kevin and I still aren't sure what is happening here though!

This is the Engine Order Telegraph from 1955.  It was used to communicate orders from the pilot on the bridge to the engine room.  This one came off the Carnivale .  And, yes, it still "works"; so we had to actually move Kenzie forward to get a picture of her looking at the camera instead of playing with it.

The doors to the Jubilee Bar also came from the Carnivale- they were the doors to its night club.

Scale model of the current Carnival Celebration.

Our room!  We were on Deck 9 forward (9311 if anyone cares enough to look at the deck plan).

Kenzie loved watching the water!

What gets smiles like this?  The ship's magician.  She loved the tricks making a ball appear and disappear.

We always joke about how oblivious Kaitlyn is.  She went through 3/4 of the deck of cards before realizing "her" card was stuck on the magician's forehead.

Excited waiting for a show to start!

Kenzie loved playing corn-hole!  She also got closer than anyone else!

Kaitlyn apparently decided to practice her camouflage skills while playing mini golf.

He was trying to get her to look at the camera.  Instead, she decided to point with him.  It was so funny and adorable!

Dinner at the Pig and Anchor.  They had the best collards I have ever had!

Kevin's beer flight was probably the best deal on the ship for a whopping 7 bucks!

It was fate... Kenzie was wearing her Everglades shirt the day this background was out!

Kenzie's quest to eat every croissant on the ship.  She had 2-3 every morning for breakfast.

Hanging out by the water park while waiting for Mom to ride The Bolt (again)

Probably one of the coolest things I've done on a cruise ship!

Kenzie showing everyone the water.

Back to the Carnival Kitchen.  This time it was Kevin and Kaitlyn for the "Ice Cream" class.  They also learned how to make sorbet, bananas foster crepes, and waffle cones.

They had this amazing s'mores cupcake at the cafe and I couldn't not get it.  A-mazing!

This sign was hanging up at Guy's Burgers!

Throughout the cruise, people kept giving Kenzie things.  Usually it was one of the ducks they had brought to hide around the ship.  But she also got a medal that a lady had won at trivia, candy, and a Groove for St. Jude bear.  Here's Kenzie with one of the ducks she got- a nurse!

Kenzie with her Groove for St. Jude bear.  The previous Carnival fundraising record on a single sailing was just over $40,000.  Our cruise director wanted to set a new record on this inaugural cruise of $50,000 for 50 years of fun on Carnival.  We ended up raising over $60,000 on the sailing!  So cool to be a small part of that!

Kenzie's duck collection.  I took this thinking she was done accumulating, but she ended up adding a few more for a grand total of 17!

Last day of the cruise!  The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast.  Kenzie loved it!  And we didn't get sued or arrested when Kenzie tried to pet Sam I Am's butt, so that's good!

Watching the morning show with the cruise director and entertainment director.

Kenzie will miss the balcony!
