Kenzie's Frozen Photos

Several weeks ago, Kenzie had a Frozen photoshoot with Miss Tracey.  She had a blast!  When Miss Tracey turned on the "snow" (bubbles)  machine, Kenzie went wild! She kept signing "more" and "my turn".  All of the pictures came out amazing!  Hopefully these 41 pictures will alleviate your "Social Distancing" boredom for a few minutes...

Washington DC

Since I am home for the rest of this week (we are on a 50% staffing model where you work one week, off the next, etc. so the entire office isn't taken down if one of us gets it), I'm FINALLY catching up on here.

We headed down to D.C. for a long weekend at the end of February for Rare Disease Day events.  Rare Disease Day is Feb. 29th (the rarest day of the year), but is usually celebrated on the 28th.  It's always so nice to spend time with other Rare families!

We arrived Friday night and headed down to an Irish pub for some fish and chips (Lent- so no meat 😀)  It was really good!

After dinner, we walked along the Wharf District...

And found this really cool stand that sold the fixings for s'mores that you cooked yourself over the fire pit.  Bonus: it had a really cool hockey theme... unfortunate team though, haha

Saturday morning we had breakfast at the hotel.  Kenzie really enjoyed the texture of the place-mats.

Then we headed across the street to the Spy Museum for the Rare events.

NORD M&Ms!

Kenzie LOVED the zebra again.  She loved on it so hard, the stripes had started wearing off before we left!

After the events, we got to spend as much time as we wanted in the museum.  Both girls loved it.

Kaitlyn practiced her sneaking skills...

This was Kenzie's favorite part...

These were pieces from the Ryder truck in Oklahoma City.

Saw this sign in the gift shop when we were leaving...

Saw the President heading to the White House from our hotel room.

Walking to dinner...

Kenzie was pretty tired by dinner time,

but rallied well when the food arrived.

The waitress asked if we were celebrating a birthday or anything.  After we explained where we were from and why we were in DC, this arrived...

Passed out!

We were up early the next day for a whirlwind day of sightseeing.

I'd been to Ford's Theater before, but this was a first for Kevin and the girls.

We also toured The Peterson House (where Lincoln died).  Usually the tours enter through the front, up those steep steps.  However, they have made it fully accessible.  We entered through the museum next door and took the elevator to the back entrance- it also meant we had our own private tour!

After we saw the house, we actually got to go through the museum.  The replica of the funeral train car was a hit with the girls.

This tower of books was to show the number of books written about Lincoln- and more are still being written everyday!

On our way to the Law Enforcement Memorial, we saw the Firefighter's K-9 Memorial.

Our two Maine officers on the Law Enforcement Memorial wall... Sgt. Betters worked at Portland PD with Kevin and Corporal Cole was shot and killed last year.

Hadn't even made it to lunch yet and Kenzie was passed out!

Kenzie hanging out at the WWII Memorial while Kaitlyn worked on the National Mall Jr. Park Ranger books.

Getting sworn in as National Mall Jr. Rangers.

Kenzie really wanted to hold Kaitlyn's hand on the way to dinner.

Kenzie has been big into coloring recently!

This drink was described as an alcoholic Thin Mint.

Kenzie was fired up at dinner and playing "Where's Kenzie" behind her napkin.

Had to get a picture with the Maine Ave sign outside the hotel before we left.

We were supposed to be heading to Disney for Kevin's Conference in April and Cleveland for the Rare Disease National Conference in May. Unfortunately COVID-19 has ended those plans.  The Rare Disease Conference has been tentatively scheduled for July and we are hoping to get the girls to Disney for a couple days later in the year/ early next.
