Transatlantic Cruise (11/3 -11/8)

Ok, I knew it had been a bit since we posted on here, but apparently it's been a year! Sorry about that.  We will try to post more regularly.  This tends to fall by the wayside because it's more time consuming and we post more frequently on Kenzie Kares, but I know everyone doesn't have Facebook so we will try to be better.

Anywho,  on our continuing quest to take Kenzie-bug (and Kaitlyn too) to as many places as we can, we were excited to have the opportunity to go on the Inaugural voyage of the Carnival Celebration from Southampton, England to Miami.  So prepare for lots of photos...

We arrived in Southampton a couple of days before the cruise- we've heard way to many stories of people who have been bumped from flights or had them canceled and missed cruises, to take any chances!

The first day was largely just travel from the airport in London to Southampton and settling in to the hotel.  We did get a fish and chips meal for dinner though and we introduced Kaitlyn to the non-alcoholic version of ginger beer! The next day, we did get in some sightseeing even though it was a little wet.

The Mayflower Memorial

St. Michael's Church

We visited a Tudor home and gardens that had been preserved and turned into a museum.  We were pleasantly surprised that they had managed to install lifts and make it accessible, so Kenzie was able to visit all the floors!

No visit to England is complete without a proper British tea!

We checked out the medieval walls and the Westgate of the city.

The next morning was cruise day!  We were so excited to be some of the first passengers on the ship!

One of our gifts for being on the inaugural sailing.

We had the cabin decorated for Kaitlyn's birthday.

Kaitlyn was so excited to see some of the decorations on the ship!

Many of the decorations on the ship were from old ships that are no longer in the Carnival fleet.  The Celebration is supposed to be a celebration of the 50 years of Carnival.  The Rolls Royce below came from the old Carnival Ecstasy.

Our first port day was in La Coruna, Spain!

Unfortunately, none of the Carnival Excursions on this cruise were accessible.  Since Kaitlyn and I were on an afternoon excursion, we were able to debark together and spend the morning near the ship before we went our separate ways.

We had breakfast at this yummy bakery!

After we split up, Kevin and Kenzie continued to walk around the old part of the city.  Then they had lunch before heading back to the ship and watched the new Minions movie on the Lido deck's big screen!

Kaitlyn and I went on a walking tour of Betzanos, Spain.  Then we had a late lunch of tapas!

Before heading back to the ship, we got to visit the Hercules Tower, which is the oldest existing lighthouse known and a UNESCO World Heritage site!

For dinner, we went to the Italian restaurant on board.
