Kenzie's Check -Up and National Park Sites

On Friday, we had Kenzie's post-op check-up.  Overall the site is healing well.  The fit is good.  There is a little irritation around it, but that is normal.  Kenzie also has more sensitive skin and they believe it may actually be the tape that is causing some of the irritation.  We were given a prescription for a different type of tape that is more gentle and a powder to help with the moisture around the site.

Kevin and I also got a "refresher" on how to care for the G-tube on a daily and weekly basis.  Kenzie was also given the go-ahead for submersion in water, so she has gotten her first "real" bath since she checked into the hospital... she needed it!

The best news is... she has gained some weight!  She is up to 28.4 lbs!!!

After Kenzie's check-up, we stopped in Salem, MA to check off another National Park...

Walking around town...

Kaitlyn spent such long hours at the hospital with us and has been a huge help to Mammy since her surgery, so we wanted to do something special for her...  we surprised her with a ghost tour.  We had a ton of fun and even the thunderstorm towards the end of the tour couldn't dampen our spirits (pun intended, haha)

Kaitlyn on the haunted bench where numerous apparitions have supposedly "photo-bombed" people here!

Before heading home to Maine, we hit up one more National Park site...

On the ranger lead tour...

Kaitlyn taking the Jr. Ranger oath for her and Kenzie  (Kenzie has started getting badges too! 💓)

Lots of sight-seeing has worn someone out.  She always has the most interesting sleeping positions!
