Catch Up Post
I’ve gotten a little behind on the blog posts…
Last week, Kaitlyn had her 2 year check up at the doctor’s. She weighed 29.8 pounds and is 34” inches tall. Dr. Foster says she’s very healthy. She won’t be going back for a check-up again until she turns 3.
For Thanksgiving, we broke our tradition of going to Bugaboo. This year, we ordered Thanksgiving dinner from Cracker Barrel. We had turkey, ham, biscuits, corn bread, fried apples, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. Very yummy!
Kaitlyn brought home this really cute project from daycare…
On Saturday, we went to another Pirates game. We had planned to do this at the game two days after her birthday, but Kevin had forced overtime so we pushed it back to last night…
Unfortunately, the Pirates lost and Kaitlyn’s friend Travis got hurt when he went into the boards hard. He left the ice and you could tell he was in a lot of pain. He didn’t play in today’s game. Rumor has it he’ll be going for X-rays and whatnot early this week. We’re hoping he’s not hurt too bad!

Portland Pirates vs. Albany Devils
Every hockey game, three stars of the game are chosen. The stars can be from either team. If the number one star is from the home team, he autographs his stick and gives it to “one lucky fan”.
Last season, I mentioned to Kaitlyn friend Travis that no one ever came down to our end of the ice. They always gave the stick away to someone close to the locker room entrance. He told me that if he ever got the number one star of the game, he would give us his stick.
So, tonight, Travis scored what turned out to be the game winning goal and played a great game all around. I figured he stood a good chance of being one of the stars. After the game, I could see the 3 players that had been chosen… Enroth, Gragnani, and Turnbull.
Enroth, was the number 3 star. Then they announced Gragnani as the number two star. Two of our friends and I looked at each other and just screamed “Travis is number one!” And he remembered his promise! It was actually kind of funny because he was so busy bringing it all the way down the ice to us that he forgot to stop and autograph it! We’re planning on bringing it back to another game and having him sign it afterwards. I just wish Kevin could have been there to see it, but he was working.
The only problem was separating Kaitlyn from it. She did not let go of it at all. Let me tell you it was not easy climbing stairs, crossing streets and getting into a car with a two year old who will not let go of a hockey stick. She then proceeded to scream “mine” repeatedly while I put her in her pajamas and put her to bed. It is going into hiding for a while now…
Happy Birthday Kaitlyn!
For Kaitlyn’s birthday, we decided to spend the day in Boston. We started out walking along Newbury Street and then headed to the Public Gardens.
Right after this picture, Kaitlyn tripped, fell, and got a couple of scratches on her hand.
For some reason, Kaitlyn was more interested in the gigantic squirrels than the geese…
Kaitlyn liked the Make Way for Ducklings statues…
Next, we headed to Jacob Wirth’s for lunch. Kaitlyn had a PB&J, but Kevin and I had the best Weiner Schnitzel and spaezle that I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic…
Whenever we tell Kaitlyn to smile now, she scrunches up her nose and closes her eyes. I have no idea what started that…
Next we were off to the New England Aquarium…
We couldn’t get Kaitlyn to touch any of the starfish in the touch tank…
A little unsure of the big turtle…
A big kiss for Daddy…
Next we were off to the North End for a stop at Mike’s Pastry. We also took a quick walk through Quincy Market. Finally, we headed to the Burlington Mall for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe.
Friday was cake and presents day since we were out all day on Thursday. I didn’t get very many pictures of the presents since I had to help Kaitlyn start opening each present and Kevin was video taping.
This year, I made Kaitlyn’s cake…
Finally, Daddy surprised her with an Elmo balloon. She is still carrying it around this morning…
Kaitlyn’s 2 year checkup is on Tuesday. We can’t wait to hear how much she’s grown!
