14 Months

Kenzie’s Neurology Appointment

Today was Kenzie’s neurology appointment.  The doctor agreed that Kenzie’s head circumference is small and she is behind in her milestones.  After observing Kenzie on the floor, checking her eyes, etc., the doctor did not see any immediately concerning problems.  She does not want to give Kenzie an MRI immediately because at Kenzie’s age that would require putting Kenzie under anesthesia.  So Kenzie has been referred back to physical therapy.  This time she will be going for about 3 months and working on her gross motor skills rather than concentrating on her neck.  We will go back to the neurologist in March to re-evaluate.  If Kenzie hasn’t made progress with her milestones, she will consider running other tests, such as the MRI. 

Fall

Here’s our annual Fall pictures.  They were so much fun to do this year.  Kenzie loves the leaves.  Every time we walk through them she starts laughing hysterically.  Kaitlyn was jumping up and down in them just to make Kenzie laugh .  I included some of the ‘blooper’ shots just because Kenzie discovering the leaves is too cute not to share…

Visit with the Fire Department

For fire safety month, our apartment’s leasing office arranged a meet and greet with some of our town’s firefighters.  They brought over an engine and ambulance and gave tours to the kids.  Kaitlyn was excited to sit in the truck and hold the hose.  She talked about it all day!

Presque Isle Trip

Columbus Day weekend we took our annual trip to Caribou/ Presque Isle where we enjoyed the corn maze, mini golfing, and selecting a pumpkin.  We also weighed Kenzie on the pumpkin scale.  It looks like she’s coming in at a whopping 18.5 lbs these days.  She also LOVED the pumpkin ice cream at the end of the day.

13 Months

1st Day of School

I’m not sure who was more excited about the first day of school…  Kaitlyn or Mommy and Daddy!  Kaitlyn is excited to have moved up a floor and to have a desk instead of tables this year. 

Other things Kaitlyn mentioned about her first day

• “I saw the note in my lunchbox.  It was sweet” (I put a ‘have a good day at school’ note and cookies in her lunchbox as a surprise)
• She has gym twice a week this year
• She read with her reading buddy (apparently they read with stuffed animals in class)
• She learned about plants- they grow with seeds, sun, and water
• She held Snowball the Magic stuffie and told the class about her vacation.  Apparently, if you hold Snowball you are allowed to talk.  If you are not holding Snowball you are quiet and listening to whomever is talking.  She told the class she went on Carnival and saw a whale tail.  Of course, she did not mention the part where she went to Alaska.
