Saturday evening we dyed eggs. I let Kaitlyn pick out the kit, but stupidly did not fully read the directions. It was VERY messy. Kaitlyn bailed on the process after just one egg. After just a few, we decided not to keep going with the golden sheen and just dyed them regularly. Next year, I will read every word on the box!
Of course, after the girls went to bed, the Easter Bunny came!
For breakfast this morning, I tried my hand at bunny pancakes. I am definitely no artist, but Kaitlyn was impressed. Although she may have been more impressed by the three chocolate eggs she got to eat for breakfast. Mysteriously the Easter Bunny did not use the whole bag to stuff the plastic eggs and left a few for Mommy and Daddy...
Then it was time to go meet Great Uncle Perry, Great Aunt Lorri, and cousins Dan and Kyle for lunch. They were visiting from Northern Maine. And of course Mammy was there too. After we ate, one of the waiters taught Kaitlyn a pretty cool trick. It's hard to see in the pictures, but there is a toothpick stuck in a cork in the bottle. Kaitlyn was able to balance a toothpick holding two forks horizontally on top of the first toothpick. Needless to say, we were all pretty impressed! And I think Kaitlyn was a little shocked she did it!
Kaitlyn and I also decorated cookies together.
And yes, she's wearing my old Wendy's apron!
We wrapped up the day with goodies from our favorite bakery. We go here a few times a year for special treats.
